How can I finance my renovation?

This is a question I hear a lot! Many of my clients love where they live, but have grown out of their home or simply want to make big improvements. The good news is: there are lots of options when it comes to financing a renovation. As a Mortgage Broker, I can help you understand your options for funding your big renovation in the most cost-effective way./

Here are some options:

• Loan Top-Up: If you're happy with your home loan, you can simply get a top-up on your existing home loan and keep everything else the same. 
• Equity loan: If you have built up some equity in your home, you could refinance your current home loan to leverage your 'usable equity' and fund our renovation.
• Redraw: If your current loan has a redraw facility and you have been making additional payments, this is a great option! You can easily access the funds when and if you need them.
• Construction loan: A construction loan is usually for major renovations of over $250k. You can draw down on the full loan amount in stages which allows you to minimise interest while you renovate.
• Line of credit: This type of finance lets you access additional funds whenever you want, up to your credit limit. It gives you the flexibility to use funds as you need them, rather than apply for another loan.
