What is the Loan Process?

You'll meet with your Broker, to discuss your objectives and financial circumstances. Your Broker will find the best lender and loan for your financial circumstances, offering you at least three suitable options. They will explain why they've recommended the shortlisted options and the pros and cons of each.

Once you've chosen your Lender and Loan, your Broker prepares and submits your loan application. Our team chases the lender on your behalf, to ensure any further questions are resolved quickly and everything flows smoothly through to Loan Settlement.

Your Broker will keep you updated throughout this period, even if there's "no news".

A key point of Mortgage Choice Oakleigh's difference is we have a dedicated Client Success team. They will contact you one month after your loan settles, staying in touch for the life of your loan. Their focus is to ensure your loan is always the best fit for you and on competitive market terms.

Our services are free to you; the Lender pays our fee.

Marvin Coleman

Marvin is the Owner and Head Broker of Mortgage Choice Oakleigh. He has been a Mortgage Broker since starting the business in 2006, having moved to Melbourne from London. He is a Chartered Accountant, having worked in London for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Marks & Spencer and BHS.

Marvin's 20 years experience with Australian mortgages helps him lead our brokers to deliver excellent client outcomes - both a best-fit mortgage and a seamless client experience.

A career highlight was winning "the big kahuna"...Victoria's Mortgage Broker of the Year in 2021. He continues to be recognised in the annual "Top 100 Mortgage Brokers in Australia" list.

Outside of work, Marvin is more recently focussed on his athletic career (he started running marathons in 2021), his family and his dog Oscar.

Marvin is a Fellow of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). He holds a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is a full member of the MFAA.

Harry Murphy

Harry Murphy is a Mortgage Broker, specialising in First Home Buyer lending and guidance.

Harry has been part of the Mortgage Choice Oakleigh team since 2021. Before that, he worked at Westpac as a Personal Banking Adviser.

He has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing and International Business) from Monash University.

Harry holds a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is a full member of the MFAA.

Stephanie McDonnell

Stephanie has been a key part of Mortgage Choice Oakleigh since 2019, knowing our clients and problem solving inside out.

She's now our Broker Operations Manager, overseeing the smooth handling of client service and loan processing.

Steph excels at keeping clients updated, whilst guiding our Lending Support team to ensure the lender progresses your loan application in a timely and accurate manner.

Outside of work, Steph's main interests are her two dogs and netball comps.

Steph holds a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is a full member of the MFAA.

Robin Coleman

Robin is Marvin's far better half and co-owner of Mortgage Choice Oakleigh.

Robin is a Chartered Accountant, having worked with Ernst & Young Melbourne and PriceWaterhouseCoopers London. She then worked r 15 years in the global pharmaceutical and biotech industries, in finance and commercial roles.

Robin ensures the smooth running of our business operations.
